Beth Carvalho, a “Madrinha do Samba”, foi uma das maiores sambistas do Brasil, ajudou a revelar grandes nomes e a revitalizar o gênero musical. Sua sensível capacidade de percepção da realidade fez com que ela própria documentasse os ilustres encontros ao longo dos seus 53 anos de palcos e pagode. As imagens do documentário são parte desse vasto acervo pessoal nas mais diferentes mídias: Super-8, VHS, Mini DV, k7 e fotos. O filme se debruça sobre esse material para traçar um recorte único, íntimo, da carreira e da vida dessa singular figura da cultura nacional.
