Sinopse
Durante a Depressão americana, três atrizes (Polly, Carol, e Trixie) se vêm sem trabalho quando o show do qual participariam é cancelado devido a dívidas de impostos. Quando convidam Barney Hopkins, o produtor da peça, para seu apartamento para discutir novas possibilidades, Barney ouve o vizinho e amigo de Polly, Brad, tocando piano e cantando. Brad é um talentoso compositor que se oferece para bancar a peça, mas se recusa a atuar na mesma, apesar da bela voz. As três amigas começam a desconfiar que Brad pode estar escondendo algo muito ruim...
